Although I was repeatedly invited—pestered, actually—by Stephen Bassett to participate in the hearing, I chose not to lend my name and credible research to the event. Over the past 40 years I have interviewed more than 140 U.S. military veterans, regarding their involvement in UFO incidents at nuclear weapons sites. Seven of those individuals participated in my September 27, 2010 "UFOs and Nukes" press conference in Washington D.C., which CNN streamed live:

UFO Sightings by Air Policemen at Loring AFB, Maine, in the 1960s

In 1964–65, Airman Third Class Gary L. Ames was an Air Policeman, assigned to the 42nd Combat Defense Squadron, at Loring AFB, Maine. In 2006, he told me,

I have memories of a UFO incident which occurred in late-October to mid-November 1964. At least one other AP also saw the object.
At the time of the sighting, I was posted near the east side of the runway, about 500 yards from the south end of it, which was not typical. Most of my posts were near B-52s or KC-135s on alert. But that night, I was posted along the base perimeter, about 50 yards beyond the edge of the runway, far away from alert aircraft. I was posted there due to a temporary shortage of dog handlers which usually patrolled the area.

The startling story, titled "What Were Those Mysterious Craft?", was published decades ago, on January 19, 1979. Based on declassified U.S. government documents, the objectively-written article by reporters Ward Sinclair and Art Harris—appearing on Page A1—provided a tantalizing peek at long-suppressed information having national security implications.

In contrast, the absurd article the Post ran in response to my September 27, 2010 UFO-Nukes Connection press conference in Washington D.C. basically ridiculed the whole idea of UFOs monitoring our missile sites and instead extolled the virtues of free cookies.

Let me explain.

On January 30, 2013, I issued my latest press release, titled "Researcher Urges U.S. Military Veterans to Divulge Their UFO Sightings at Nuclear Weapons Sites". My hope was/is that persons who had not yet gone on-the-record about their UFO experiences would contact me at [ ufohastings AT aol DOT com ].

The first to do so, Larry Rogers, has provided an unexpected glimpse into UFO activity during the period of French atomic testing in the Sahara desert in the early 1960s. I have twice interviewed Mr. Rogers on the telephone and he has provided his DD214 military service record, which verifies his presence at a U.S. Air Force base in North Africa during that era.

On November 18, 2012, I was invited to appear on the Coast to Coast AM radio show, to discuss my research relating to UFO incursions at nuclear weapons facilities, as confirmed in declassified documents and the testimony of U.S. military veterans. Since 1973, I have interviewed more than 130 of those individuals, ranging from retired USAF colonels, who were ICBM launch and targeting officers, to former airmen who had guarded those missiles, or nuclear bombers.

The Echo and Oscar Flight Incidents

On March 16, 1967, ten Minuteman-I nuclear missiles operated by Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana, suddenly malfunctioned one after the other, just as a “large round object” was reported to be hovering “directly over” one of them—according to retired USAF Col. Walter Figel, one of two launch officers on duty at Echo Flight during the incident.

Figel received the startling news while in the flight's underground launch control center, via a two-way radio call from an Air Force security guard posted at the missile silo in question. Although skeptical, then-Lt. Figel dispatched a couple of two-man Security Alert Teams to the field to investigate. They subsequently confirmed the presence of the UFO.

On September 19th, at 10:19 pm., the Fergus County, Montana Sheriff's Office received a call from an individual reporting a strange sight in the sky. The key passage in the official log entry reads:

CENTRAL MONTANA DISPATCH ADVISED OF A CALL FROM JENNIFER STYER WHO REPORTED SEEING 2 V-SHAPED OBJECTS WITH ORANGE LIGHTS FLYING VERY LOW NORTHWEST OF ROY. JENNIFER WANTED TO KNOW IF THEY MIGHT BE AIR FORCE AIRCRAFT …

UFO Hovered Near Missile Launch Control Center at Minot AFB

The 1966 event mentioned in the newspaper article below was apparently not the only UFO incursion at Minot's missile sites that year. According to retired USAF Captain David D. Schindele, he was involved in an incident at another flight, during which several nuclear missiles became temporarily unavailable for launch.

Nuclear Weapons Websites Are In Deep Denial About UFOs

Declassified U.S. government documents confirm that UFOs have repeatedly visited nuclear weapons sites—laboratories, plutonium production plants, bomb test ranges, missile warhead storage depots, ICBM launch silos—as early as December 1948.

Furthermore, KGB and Ministry of Defense documents released or leaked following the collapse of the U.S.S.R. verify that the Soviets also experienced such incursions at their nuclear facilities during the Cold War era.

In short, someone or something operating highly superior aerial craft has been monitoring and sometimes disrupting the functionality of American and Russian nuclear weapons for decades.

On October 23, 2010, F.E. Warren Air Force Base, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, temporarily lost the ability to communicate with 50 of its Minuteman III nuclear missiles. The five Missile Alert Facilities responsible for launching those ICBMs in time of war—Alpha through Echo, comprising the 319th Strategic Missile Squadron—would have been unable to do so during the period of the disruption.

The Echo Flight ICBM Incident

This is my first taped interview with Col. Walt Figel, occurring on October 20, 2008. Figel confirms that he had received a report from a security guard about a "large, round" UFO hovering over one of Echo Flight's missile silos, seconds after that missile failed. Figel further says that he and the other officer on duty that day, Captain Eric Carlson, where told not to talk about the incident and that Carlson's son, James Carlson, has misrepresented Figel's remarks to Hastings and others—regarding the reality of a UFO-presence during the Echo Flight shutdown incident—in his many blog posts on the topic.

The following report is extraordinary. The source is highly credible and the importance of the incident is self-evident. Simply put, this case is among the most fascinating I have encountered during my decades of research into nuclear weapons-related UFO sightings. It all began with an email:

Since I'm retired, and no longer held accountable to the National Security 10 year no-talk list, I can tell you I have seen and heard of plenty unexplained phenomena in the missile fields. I was stationed at Ellsworth AFB, SD in the late 70's; Vandenberg AFB, CA in the early 80's; Grand Forks AFB, ND in the middle 80's to early 90's and Malmstrom AFB, MT in the early 90's. I spent over 11 years in the actual missile field before being promoted to a desk job.
If you can find the data, check out the winter of 1979, Delta flight at Ellsworth AFB. If you want further details, we might want to talk in person, or via a hard line. All of Echo and most of Delta flights. I was on Delta 6 at the time.

The March 22, 1950 FBI Memo on Crashed Flying Saucers

In the wake of the recent, widespread, but misguided publicity surrounding the FBI memorandum written by Special Agent-in-Charge Guy Hottel—which recounted the alleged recovery of three "flying saucers" in New Mexico—numerous articles have appropriately debunked the document, including one written for livescience.com by Skeptical Inquirer magazine's managing editor Ben Radford. The supposedly just-released, supposedly important memo is neither and Radford rightly says just that. So far, so good. However, in an apparent effort to suppress relevant facts related to the UFO crash-recovery story—facts that Radford would never mention—livescience.com has declined to post my own input. In response to Radford's remarks I wrote a detailed comment, which received an "awaiting moderation" reply when I tried to post it. As of this date it still has not appeared on the website and seems to have been rejected. In any case, here is what I attempted to add to the discussion …
